Painless Novocain Injections (shots)
Many patients have experienced pain in the past with Novocain injections. It may have even kept you from seeking dental care in the past. Dr. Alexander understands this can be the most painful part of any visit, so he has developed a method to administer Novocain that is virtually painless. He uses what he calls a “staged” approach to Novocain injections. First, he applies a very strong Novocain gel at the injection site. After 2-4 minutes, he places a few drops of a gentler, less acidic Novocain on the same area and allows 2 minutes for it to take effect. By this time, the area is comfortably numb. Dr. Alexander follows up with slow, controlled delivery of a slightly stronger Novocain, using a “vibration” technique to administer the injection. This technique disrupts the signal of pain to your brain so you don’t feel it!
